– Typing into a new Text/Edit document gave similar erratic character input with both missing and excessively repeated characters. – After login, it appeared that input from my USB mouse was interrupted frequently for some large fraction of a second. In order to successfully login, I had to watch the character blobs in the password field and type very slooooowly to make certain each character was actually entered. – I use a USB tethered keyboard on that machine. Out of the blue there was a decision requested with no explanation of consequences. According to LockRattler, the EFI firmware was just updated to 1037.40.124.0.0 with no other changes indicated.

I just updated “Security Update 2019-001 10.14.6” on a Macmini8,1 (2018 Mini with T2 chip). Updated 1320 UTC 30 October 2019 with firmware update info. Those updating to 10.15.1 will find that included in the macOS update High Sierra and Mojave users are likely to have to obtain this separately. There is also an XProtect update, to version 2107, which I am announcing separately. Those updates are included in 10.15.1 and the two Security Updates, I believe.

Significant security fixes include a vulnerability in the App Store app, elevation of privileges in file quarantine, several kernel bugs, and more. Oh, and there are more than 70 new and updated emoji, in case that excites you.
